LURAY, Va. (WHSV) – Throughout the month of July, Massanutten Country Corner will be hosting its first ever shelter pet food drive, with proceeds going toward Page Paws and the Page County Animal Shelter.
Page Paws collects stray cats and dogs, helps them get spayed or neutered, provides food and other supplies to the Page County Animal Shelter and assists the shelter in finding homes for their pets. Staff members at the store say they want to make a difference in the community by supporting the shelter and its pets in whatever way they can.
Freda Good, office manager for Massanutten Country Corner, said she was inspired to create this drive because she loves animals and has worked with Page Paws, the animal shelter and other nonprofit organizations in the past.
“We want the community to know that not only do we support animals, but we will support the rest of the community as well,” Good said. “Nonprofits, Page Paws itself — we will support any cause in the community and get involved in every way we can.”
Massanutten Country Corner hopes to do its part by collecting donations from the community that will be delivered directly to Page Paws and the animal shelter. Donations will be accepted throughout the month of July and may include dog or cat food, cleaning supplies such as Clorox wipes or paper towels, Miracle Nipple kitten feeders or any sort of monetary donation. When donating, people can bring their items directly to the store or ship them via Amazon if purchasing a kitten feeder.
